Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0

Post by james_s on Sat Feb 28, 2015 2:36 am

I added this to my earlier fat ass post on pg2:

Another item to collect can be a power-up during which at the press of a button the ninja sends a shockwave that violently blows back any enemy incl rockets, thwumps, bbs etc (apart from turrets I guess) near to it so it has a chance to escape before they turn back to operating normally. -I think the problem with that is that if the ninja has the ability to move objects then why can't it make itself do a super jump.. So what I propose is that when its used, the ninja gets into the sitting lotus position and hovers still during the couple of seconds in which the shockwave lasts and if a direction key is pressed the ninja drifts quite fast in that direction (which can hence stop a fall etc)

(I wonder if u think these would work: )
Mapping:
-Also I'm not sure about this but in Editor instead of placing tiles maybe you can have a cursor like a line drawer in windows Paint (except it snaps to acceptable angles)

Competition:
-The game could identify which route the player took and give it a date stamp. And if that player makes a faster run with the same route (the game would be able to tell) then the date stamp remains the same. All runs on the board will show the date stamp (which can be enlarged when clicked on) so viewers could see who thought up the route first if they see that they taken the same route as each other. (I guess there would have to be extra coding to make sure useless jumps or movements while falling don't affect what the game recognises as a route)

-The mapper can choose the exit can be on a timer for example it will stay open for only 10 seconds and will only open after a set time (a timer will be shown to the player). This can make for survival gameplay or a challenge of which gold to go for to make sure you get to the exit in time -I prefer this to normal survival mode where good players might spend the whole day surviving in a map.

There should be more Tile arrangements AKA Star tiles of tiny tiles or even Arch tiles.

Random suggestion - ability to change type/color of the font (kinda like in TrackMania).

Another idea i doubt was suggested, but is pretty obvious - map upload date.

I still think there should be testing enforcement, where you have to beat your level to publish, and all changes have to re-start the test. Its just so every map at any time can be fun and possible, somehow.

-An option to choose level's both bottom-screen name and name you see when you're browsing through levels (i know it's possible, but i can't understand how to do it).

You can do different names like that:
Press Shift + PGDN to get formatted data (with the bottom screen name you've written before). Save TWICE.
Then change the name in the Level name field. Save ONCE.

I tried it in my last level (it worked), I hope I remembered it correctly.

But I am not sure if this is a bug or a functionality, and also if the bottom screen name is searchable.

WARNING: SOME OF MY IDEAS ARE TERRIBLE. IF YOUR EYES CANNOT TAKE THESE SUGGESTIONS, I'M SORRY.

-Flips, and parkour stuff.
-Flight (Terrible one...)
-Cooler designs for the drones (and the Ninja)
-Grapple
-Heath
-Some way to attack the drones
-Bigger expansion
-Natural way to teleport
-Water
-Stealth
-Maybe new drones (Awful...)

Again, I'm sorry.

Search option in metanet levels tab (i sometimes remember the title but don't remember the number and it annoys me).

...Maybe also in editor tab (would be very useful to THUNDER :])

I also would like there to be a way you can make Co-op highscores when making a co-op map. It would be a fresh muliplayer syatem.

Wouldn't it be cooler if N wasn't just gray shading and white background. More color? Seems that tiles being gray can be a reason why maps don't seem to stand out.

Hell yeah! I mean, not even like it's in n+ or n++, but it'd be brilliant if you could... maybe draw something? Or at least have a multicolor map following a premade pattern (because if anyone could draw anything, then...yeah...you know what to expect...).

I have an idea - because sadly, i doubt metanet will have interest in it all -- let's make a programming team and make all (or at least some of) the suggestions come to reality! I already know some people who could engage in this project.

I can do some Background Music stuff. Like ambient or synth.
And it would be nice to add multiplayer option. :D

Connection with N2High would be great. By that i mean frequently updated rankings shown somewhere in the game.

Option to favorite mappers so you don't miss any of their maps.

I suggest to add:
Favourite Authors (for example if i can add Fujita and w95559w in my favourite author, i would a selection of all their levels)

So... i guess... credit to him?

Maybe have something on the level menu that tells you how many deaths this level has caused, which would give you an indication on how hard it is to beat.

I like the idea, but a better measurement of difficulty would be the percentage of times players have died [(# of deaths / # of attempts) * 100%]. A map that's played more often will have more deaths, but that doesn't necessarily make it harder than another map that isn't played as often.

I agree :) Maybe the game could have folders of difficulty, 1 folder with levels classified as easy, 1 with medium, 1 hard, so the players can pick what suits their playing style. (To get rid of the map spammers that want to put all their levels in hard, the map has to be completed.)

I don't feel like that would be accurate enough. Individually, that's a great idea. But collectively? Think about simple maps that are are meant to be replayed and replayed all over to achieve the highest score. Pros won't waste their time on finishing the level if they aren't proud with their run. And so, the calculated difficulty would be way higher than it really is.
