Help - DDAs

Post by TORNADO on Wed Apr 15, 2015 3:29 am

Ok, so yesterday I made a DDA and it was cheatable, I hate how people must go for the highscore on special maps like DDAs, it ruins the fun. So in conclusion, anyone know every complex ways to make a DDA? I just cant find the way to test the DDA without finding out my mistake throughout a person who ruins it.

Thanks, in return again to N(I know, not that special but yay or nay) -A_99

Hm... In the first year of playing (mapping in) N, i was very good at making DDA's (well, i am still ;D , but i do it rarely now). I will try to give you some advices (general advices):

1)Very important - try to place as little gold as possible - the best way is to hide them under things like bounce blocks, thwumps or walls (advanced mapping) or make a good looking, neat figures/patterns of it (but make them small so they won't cause big lags); also, don't stack gold if it's unnecessary.

2)Make the action rather quick.

3)Near misses are very effective. They look cool and prevent from cheating.

4)Try not to make it no-enemies. Certainly, you neither should make it enemy-spammed... Use as many as needed. You gotta find the best placement for the enemies so they can be as efficient as possible.

5)Try to use all kinds of boosts - including jump pads, thwumps, tiles, bounce blocks and advanced boosters like Fujita's speedyboards or speedyports. The worst DDAs mostly include only jump pads. Don't do it.

I can't think of more advices right now, i hope those helped you.

Not too many enemies otherwise it lags.

And cheating DDAs is the best part about them.

Agreed. You gotta be creative/clever.

It doesn't ruin the DDA to "cheat" a DDA. If you want the fun, just play it by itself, fuck the highscores. DDA's are boring when all the highscores are the exact same. I really enjoy finding an alternate route and beating the others.
