It's great that you joined us here! We love having new people.
Making generic maps is a great way to start mapping. That's how I started, and I'd like to think I've improved a lot over the years. Keep it up!

Hey man, welcome! Great to see some new people are getting into N, we could always use some more.
Like toaster said, making generic maps is a great way to get started. As you learn more about it and begin to use the tools given in many different ways, you'll see yourself start to make more creative and well constructed maps! Just keep working at it and you'll get there my friend.
Here's a relatively basic guide for level design that I suggest you take a look at, this covers some very essential things when making a map and should help you a bunch. It certainly helped me. https://n-game-v2.forumactif.org/t331-the-importance-of-function-form-a-general-guide-for-level-design
I'll see you around and I hope to see some awesome maps from you!

If you keep spouting maps, you'll eventually find your style and start to bust out some amazing work, I'm sure. That's how I got started, at least
