Chimneying
Or whatever it's called when you jump up a narrow pipe really quickly. Can anyone provide a tutorial or advice on getting the kind of speed that allows you to pass through barriers when doing it?

Re: Chimneying
I assume you mean chimneying, I can get a decent speed just by tapping the 'z' key really quickly. But I've heard from alot of people that they use two keys (like both 'Shift' keys).
Although I can't do it with two keys I still can get enough speed with one to pass through certain barriers.. sometimes.

Re: Chimneying
You don't have 15.000 solutions, just break your jump button.
PS: If you need help, post in " Help for Mapping " or " Help for Running "

Re: Chimneying
I don't understand.. use left finger for right shift button and right finger for left shift button and try to press them one after another -i.e anything except 'together as one' will add extra speed
(set jump to shift or even Ctrl )

Re: Chimneying
Using both shift keys really speeds you up. Also, you can use the arrow keys to accelerate towards the wall, but that's hard to do accurately.

Re: Chimneying
Me too, this type of map i think is useless, 'cause we have 50 chimneys by days in userlevels ._.
Re: Chimneying
I agree with you guys, I don't understand why there needs to be a race about chimneying

Re: Chimneying
yeah some people specialise in that area but having too many a day is boring for others

Re: Chimneying
The two-key thing will only work on certain keyboards, that's why some people find it useful and some others don't, not all keyboards can actually take advantage of that technique. Laptops tend to work more often in this respect.
But anyway, don't worry about chimneying much, at the end of the day its not that useful, only for maps in which a long chimney is pretty much everything. As soon as the map is actually a little complex, chimneying will be almost useless. Better practise your overall skill, thats the key.

Re: Chimneying
I must agree with the laptop thing, the keys are very sensible and in my case it's about +4/5 points.

What's usefull about chimneying?
It can be handy in levels that are all about chimneying, but what can you do with in like a race or something?

Re: Chimneying
The 'chimneying' technique is very useful for a decent range of corners, and turns. Set your jump key to control or shift, and when you are playing the chimney maps, dont over think the speed at which you need to press. People tend to tense up and try and click both keys at 100% capacity. If you focus too much on speed, your brain will probably sync up your hands and you will end up not taking advantage of the 2 button motion. In reality, if you get a rhythm going, and press both keys at 70-80% capacity, you will go much faster then you would if you try your hardest to click fast. The different timed clicks for each finger is much more important than the speed that you click.
When you are doing it, start slow, at like 20%/20%, but make sure its one jump key then the other, and slowly build up to 60%... 90% capacity.

Re: Chimneying
since we are on this topic, i noticed that some players jump so fast that they kinda float in air once they reach the top...

Re: Chimneying
You just answered Your question, it's only about fast tapping (but some players have luck and they succeed even with poor chimneying).

Re: Chimneying
It's good to start on a side of your choice remember. So you'll have to tap left or right first. Then you should smash the z key until your parents come in and tell you to stop 'fiddling around' XD (get it) .
