Suggestions for Nv2.0
What would you like to see changed in a possible future update of Nv2.0?
I'll keep a list of the best ideas here:
- Being able to chat with other players in-game.
- Longer leaderboards on userlevels
- Bug fix for not being able to test levels on the downloaded version of Nv2.0
- Being able to see how many players are online.
- Being able to play co-op games online. (This will encourage map-makers, like me, to create alot more co-op maps)
- Whenever you finish a map your score should be displayed on-screen.
- When watching a demo of someone else you should see the flavor/color of their ninja, not your own.
- When completing all the campaign maps you should get the hex editor, this will allow you to change your ninja to any flavor/color you want. (If this idea gets combined with the one above, more people will play the campaign maps)
- Being able to comment on user-created maps.
- There should be a play count on user-created maps.
- A map needs atleast one of each of the following objects to be allowed to be published: Ninja, key and door.
- An option to turn on a ghost-like ninja that represents a selected demo (just like the circle in Nreality).
- When finishing arcade mode you should get a reward, a rainbow Ninja for example.
- Ability to unpublish your maps
- The game should either have a "refresh" button or automatically refresh the "newest" page of the userlevels
- New gamemode; Survival mode: Auto finish upon surviving X seconds (time can be set by the map creator).
When this list is decent enough I'll mail it to Mare and Raigan (the creators of N)
Feel free to post your ideas and suggestions below

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
hey but before you email M&R be sure to make sure the stuff on Metanetforums is included (I think its on the bugs thread). And the trouble is they are very into keeping things 'minimal'. Only the people who created Nreality would make use of ideas which aren't and they're not planning a new version currently
I thought about a play count on maps -it can be counting plays as one per account or simply how many times it had been attempted -but I think that would look weird if people tried to like jump over a hard mine at the start of a map a thousand times.

Okay, I'll take a look at those bugs and put them on here.
I know that they want N to be as simple and minimal as possible but first of all; bugs are never good and second; I think that this will give them some insight of what the community wants. I also know that they are primairly working on N++ and that they are not planning on creating a newer version of N. Though they could give Nv2.0 some updates, who knows?
If you don't try, you are sure it won't happen. So why not try? Besides, I think this topic is fun to talk about anyway
Oh and about the play count, I think it should work like: Max. 1 play per account per 24 hours
Maybe there could also be a death count which just simply counts the amount of deaths of all players.

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
I think the mapper should be able to draw a background landscape (paler grey tiles which have no effect on the ninja of course). I think if used well it could look beautiful.
(btw Im not keen on the old N+ background -like a cold harsh metal..)

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
Hey,
Yeah, add a colored background (like N+ on Nitendo DS) or a image is a good idea, but if the background is the same color of the player, or a bomb, a drone or any ennemies, it's would be annoying.

Too bad metanet made it clear that the lifetime of ninja is 90 second, I still wish there's a timer in map.

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
the background of the game is a bit dull, if there was a choice of different colours that would be better

Do you mean a seperate leaderboard where-in coins do not affect the score?

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
no i mean in highscore the players collect gold to get more score. in speedrun the players dont collect gold but run straight for the exit like in nreality

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
Yeah, i'm fan of speed run maps (i've created some maps of the singleplayer without golds)
Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
An idea: being able to see how much gold you collected in a level.
Good ideas, but they should make the rating system more advanced.
Like you could see how much people voted and specific digits like 4.65 and being able to see how much % of all voters voted 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
another thing I wish, but will not happen is, when publishing a map the editor/author of the map he/she should be able to decide where the map replays should be visible or not to other players if you don't want the map to be spoiled

Idea: being able to create a playlist.
Another idea: being able to download a replay, that way you can make montages easily.

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
Maybe 'show level data' button? (Either in built-in levels) ...And ability to place objects wherever You want, like it was in 1.4.

Re: Suggestions for Nv2.0
When you complete a level, it says your personal best on the level rectangle. Above this, it should tell you the score of your last run. That way you can analyse how well you are doing when trying to beat your highscore and if changes you are making to your run are actually working.
