A level is missing

Post by garamond on Wed Oct 28, 2015 6:57 pm

Very strange, an old level that I made in March ("Hacking Your Computer") went missing some time ago.

I know because I have published only about 12 levels since last year's huge database error, and sometimes I keep track of them.

The level is here: http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/nv2.html?l=158920 but it doesn't load.

That is strange. My best guess is the data is still there, but it's corrupted and not being read correctly.

If anyone knows something I don't or if I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me, but what probably happened is the database got full (causing the huge error) and when that happens, you start overwriting data (which causes corruption). If that's the case, then the only way to retrieve the level data is to do some data recovery procedures on the server/drive that the database is stored on. You might try emailing Metanet and see what they have to say about it.

I thought about emailing Metanet, but this is the only case that I know. Maybe if it gets repetitive (if somebody reports it).

The level data is probably not corrupted, the data from the server says "forbiden" with these contents:
Code:
<Error>
<Code>AccessDenied</Code>
<Message>Access Denied</Message>
<RequestId>DC5D78821CC7EE28</RequestId>
<HostId>3Q4KfTiAdIa5gJyebJUSop8p01KcyomSu2v2/RWdoqZGJqUFafWjuRcKKVJzve34</HostId>
</Error>
Usually only the long string of letters and numbers is returned for a level, like in HostId.
