Help with DDA Empty Help with DDA

Post by Nimit Mon Feb 15, 2016 3:07 pm

So I started creating a DDA today, and since it's my first time, I am finding it rather hard to build. I read some posts about DDA's here and watched some featured DDA's, and from what I can gather, A good DDA should contain:
All kinds of enemies
All kinds of obstacles
Near-misses would be nice
Not too many enemy's or gold since that would cause lag

If I'm wrong or missing something, correct me. I also read about "Fujita's speedyboards or speedyports " somewhere here. IDK what's that it would be nice if someone can post a tutorial link or something.
Thanks :)

If you could include a visually stunning aspect (or something), that would also add flavor to the DDA. ("Laser Kabob", e.g.). Also, try to put something unique or special in it that separates it from other DDAs.

But yes, that is basically what makes a good DDA; lots of enemies, obstacles, near-misses. And if you can make your audience constantly ask "How is this ninja still alive?", you've got a really epic one.

Also, (good) DDAs are time consuming, so be very patient when putting one together.

I'm not super artistic and hence DDA I'm working on isn't so eye - catching but yes I've added lots of enemy's (3+ of each kind ), thwumps and bounceblocks, IMO I'm on the right track lets hope DDA turns out good.

No. If you're not a DDA expert, don't even think about it. Quantity =/= quality. You must be creative in making DDAs. In terms of 'gameplay' it's good to mix mechanics. On the visual side it's recommended to have a pattern (no, chaos is not a pattern). The enemies should be as effective as possible while also in the lowest needed quantity (don't overuse them).

Since i am not even close to an expert, I'll try to keep it simple.
Thanks sparta

Anyways please have a look at it :
